AICA Laminates India Pvt. Ltd. is a company that was formed in the year 2011. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese company AICA Kogyo Ltd. which is a listed company in Japan that manufactures laminates, adhesives and other building materials. AICA Kogyo is a multinational company that has a wide presence in Asia that includes production facilities in several countries such as Japan, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and India.

News about AICA first appeared in the Indian newspapers when the company acquired the Sunmica division of BBTCL (Bombay Burmah Trading Company Ltd.), which was then a Wadia Group company (famous for its Bombay Dyeing brand of clothes). The Sunmica division was reportedly acquired by AICA at a price of Rs.100.30 crores. The Sunmica acquisition that was initiated in Aug-2011 was completed by 31-Oct-2011.
